2022 PRIZES

Graduated Ribbons – Leïla Pile

The work ‘Graduated Ribbons’, by the Belgian Leïla Pile, was distinguished with the Acquisition Prize of the International Exhibition at Contextile 2022 – Contemporary Textile Art Biennial, present at Palácio Vila Flor, in Guimarães, and which runs until 30 October.

The international jury composed of Lala de Dios (textile curator and teacher), Janis Jefferies (visual arts teacher and curator), Monika Grasiené-Zaltê (textile artist and curator), Orenzio Santi (textile teacher and artist) and Cláudia Melo (artistic director of Contextile 2022) also distinguished with Honorable Mentions the works ‘The Shopping Bags of Tartarus’, by the Finnish Arja Kärkkäinen, ‘Flashlight & Turn it off’, by the Chilean Estefanía Tarud, ‘Plastic Textile’, by the Italians IPER-collettivo, and ‘Activating Guimarães’, by Brazilian artist Vania Sommermeyer.
